Sony Full-Frame Prime Lens Roundup

Introduction

Sony now offers the most extensive native lens lineup for mirrorless digital cameras in both absolute numbers and for Full-Frame cameras alone. Even though the NEX system which introduced the E-mount was launched with APS-C cameras lenses a decade ago, Sony rebranded the system as Alpha. and added full-frame cameras and lenses in 2013. Despite the three year head start of APS-C, Sony expanded into the full-frame market at an unprecedented pace and currently offer twice as many Sony E-mount Full-Frame lenses as APS-C ones.

Prime lenses in the Sony lineup of Full-Frame lenses cover ultra-wide to super-telephoto focal-lengths. The widest is currently the 20mm F/1.8G while the longest is the 600mm F/4 GM OSS. Most of these lenses fall between 24 and 100mm and offer an F/1.8 or F/1.8 maximum aperture, with F/2.8 reserved for macro and long telephoto lenses. Only the FE 600mm F/4 GM OSS is restricted to F/4 due to its extreme reach.
