Sigma Adds Two DG DN Prime Lenses

Sigma just expanded their Contemporary lineup of lenses designed for mirrorless digital cameras by introducing two new prime lenses this morning.

The ultra-wide Sigma C 24mm F/2 DG DN is a compact prime lens with a bright F/2 maximum aperture in a premium built lens barrel with a dedicated aperture-ring. This lens is optimized for the shallow flang-distance of modern mirrorless cameras while delivering sharp images with low chromatic aberrations.

This new lens focuses down to 24cm to acheive a 0.14X magnification. Its 9-blade aperture allows it to produce smooth out-of-focus areas. The front of the lens is threaded to accept common 62cm filters. Despite its ultra-wide angle of view and bright aperture, this lens remains relatively light at 365g while also being weatherproof.

The Sigma C 24mm F/2 DG DN is available for Leica L and Sony E mounts, always with Full-Frame coverage.

A much longer Sigma C 90mm F/2.8 DG DN prime lens was also launched today. This bright medium lens is designed to capture portraits with a flattering perspective and for closeups while maintaining a comfortable working distance. At 50cm, it reaches a 0.2X magnification.

Like its sibling, the new 90mm F/2.8 lens has a metal barrel with dedicated aperture-ring and is weatherproof. Sigma managed to make this lens particularly compact and light, weighing just 295g. A less bright F/2.8 maximum aperture makes this lens need only 55mm filters.

The Sigma C 90mm F/2.8 DG DN is also being made in Leica L and Sony E mounts with Full-Frame coverage.
