Xencelabs Unveils Second Tablet

Last night Xencelabs expanded their product line with a second tablet. The new Pen Tablet Small features the same technology and design as the original in a more compact format.

This new Small graphics tablet offers a drawing surface with a 20cm diagonal, making it exactly 2/3 the size of the Medium, yet with still enough surface to draw precise strokes. As with its predecessor, the new version has a 16:9 aspect-ratio to minimize unused areas when working with most computer displays. Four luminous markings show exactly where the drawing area stops.

Every innovation introduced by the Xencelabs Pen Tablet Medium reviewed here carries over to the new model. The surface has a smooth finish and the tablet is ergonomically designed with a curved front-edge and rounded corners for comfort after long use. A choice of two pen thickness, one with three buttons and another with two, comes with each tablet. Pen tilt ±60° and 8192 levels of pressure can be detected for the ultimate precision.

The Pen Tablet Small itself offers three customizable buttons. For additional control, the XenceLabs Quick Keys, which we also reviewed, provide an unprecedented level of customization and feature accessibility. These are independent devices that can be used alone or with either tablet. A unified driver makes controls for all these devices accessible from the same panel. Drivers are available for Windows, Linux and MacOS.

Xencalabs has the new Pen Tablet Small immediately available for $200 USD by itself. Quick Keys can be purchased separately for $90 USD. This includes a USB-A receiver with A-to-C adapter and carrying case for the pens and extra nibs which are included with the tablet.
