HP Photosmart R967 Samples
Images below are all unmodified 100% crops from their respective cameras. A specific ISO was set for each picture on-camera but exposure and white-balance were fully automatic. Here the 10 megapixels HP Photosmart is compared to the 6 megapixels Fuji Finepix F10. The F10 is another capable ultra-compact camera. Altough it does not have any manual controls, it has a wide ISO range and is the previous image quality champion amoing ultra-compact cameras, just behind the Fuji Finepix F30.

Right off at ISO 100, the HP is much noisier than the Fuji Finepix F10 which produces extremely smooth images. At ISO 400, the R967 is quite noisy and shows increased softness, probably due to noise-reduction. Besides the HP, the F10 remains silky smooth up to ISO 400. The F10's ISO 800 shows similar noise-levels to the HP Photosmart R967, but with a little more softness.
Noise is not the only difference here. The most visible difference is actually exposure. The HP consistently produces a slightly darker image. Note that we cannot absolutely compare exposre-values because we have no data on either camera's ISO accuracy.
