Venus Optics Launches Ultimate Bokeh Lens

Just before 2021 finished, Venus Optics unveiled a new member of the extremely bright Laowa Argus series of prime lenses for Full-Frame cameras. The newest addition to the family brings a new focal-length and aperture that is designed to produce the smoothest bokeh possible.

Joining the series is the Laowa Argus 45mm F/0.95 FF. Its focal-length is exactly within the normal range which gives a perspective that looks extremely natural and mimics a single human eye with its 51° field-of-view when on a Full-Frame camera. This new prime lens is launched in Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts, so there is also the possibility of mounting it on an APS-C camera where it would show an equivalent 67mm focal-length.

The extremely bright aperture of this lens makes it possible to capture a razor-thin depth-of-field. This creates images with a strong subject isolation and everything quickly blurs out-of-focus. To make such images truly beautiful, Venus Optics fitted the Laowa Argus 45m F/0.95 FF with a 15-blade iris. This renders very round bokeh that cover the background and foreground with colorful circles.

This prime lens is a specialty lens and designed to a high-standard with a metal construction and wide ring to precisely control focus thanks to its 300° throw. A mechanical aperture-ring is declickable for use during video capture yet without compromising the experience for photographers. The new 45mm F/0.95 weighs in at a hefty yet very reasonable 835g.

Venus Optics is launching this new lens in Canon RF, Nikon Z and Sony E mounts for $800 USD.
