Tokina Refreshes Ultra-Wide Zoom

Tokina just refreshed their widest rectilinear zoom lens for DSLRs with APS-C sensors. The new ATX-I 11-16mm F/2.8 CF constant-aperture ultra-wide zoom replaces the AT-X lens of nearly identical specifications with a very slightly smaller and lighter model. Like its predecessor, the new ATX-I is available for Canon EF-S and Nikon F mounts.

The short optical zoom on this lens allows it to have an unusually bright F/2.8 maximum aperture for such a wide lens. At 544g (1.2lbs), this is not a light lens yet it is relatively compact. A new coating applied to the front element makes cleaning easier than on previous models. Tokina employs a clutch focus changing system to toggle between AF and MF modes.
