Think Tank Photo FocusPoint RollTop Backpacks
News
2025.10.01
Think Tank Photo recently released one of their most unusual series of photo backpacks, the FocusPoint RollTop. These backpacks partially roll to close which provides some leeway to control their carrying volumes. It comes in two sizes, both identically designed and literally packed with features.
The new pair of camera backpacks have multiple points of entry and an entirely removable padded photo gear compartment. With it in place, a back flap opens to give unobstructed access to contents. The same compartment can also be reached by a smaller side opening, while the top of the bag provides access to remaining volume above the photo compartment. With the compartment removed, the top can be used to reach all the way into the bag, allowing them to carry a considerable load.
The FocusPoint RollTop series is designed for maximum versatility. They include a padded internal compartment for a laptop. The 30L model accommodates one up to 16", while the 22L model can hold a 14" model. There are also 10 pockets scattered in and around these backpacks.
The namesake rolltop compartment rolls to close with both magnets and a secure buckle. There are side pockets for a water bottle and a tripod, which gets secured with some provided attachment straps. An dedicated pocket with zipper closure is provided for quick-access to a cellphone. The front flap covers numerous inner pockets to keep small items organized. There are also three internal zipper pockets, one on each side, plus one inside the back flap. These backpacks also come with a seam-sealed rain cover.
The larger FocusPoint RollTop 30L model has a 31L maximum capacity when the photo gear compartment is out and 25L with it in place. The FocusPoint RollTop 22L does not have quite the same expansion. With the insert it holds 20L and it reclaims an extra 3L of space when the compartment is removed. Official dimensions for these Think Tank Photo backpacks are:
