Think Tank Photo Launches Shape Shifter V2.0 Family

Think Tank Photo recently unveiled a new family of Shape Shifter backpacks. Following the same principle as the original Shape Shifter reviewed here, these backpacks can carry a large amount of gear and compress to an incredibly thin 3" in depth when empty.

Version 2.0 of the Shape Shifter comes in 3 formats. One accommodates a 15" laptop while the other two a 17" one. The smaller version can easily hold a full-size DSLR plus 3 lenses. The larger size comes in Standard and Naked version. The Standard one holds one or two DSLRs plus three or four lenses. The Naked version features an innovative system to attach compartments inside the backpack. This way, it can hold 3 to 7 padded pouches, each holding its own piece of equipment.

These new bags offer a great deal of space for additional gear, including a centered tripod attachment at the front of the bag. With its top-opening, contents can be accessed even when the tripod is attached. A padded external pocket allows safe storage of a smartphone up with 5.5" display. It comes with a detachable water-bottle pouch.

For superior water-resistance, all exterior fabric has a durable water-repellant (DWR) coating, plus the underside of the fabric has a polyurethane coating. The bag also has 600D twill, YKK RC zippers, 320g dry-flow airmesh, nylon webbing, 3-ply bonded nylon thread. Additional protection from the elements is provided by an included seam-sealed rain-cover.
