Sony Launches A7S II Ultra-Low-Light Mirrorless

Sony just took the wraps off their new A7S II which is certain to be the most capable low-light digital camera. With a 12 megapixels full-frame CMOS sensor has the largest pixels among current digital camera which gives it a native ISO 100 - 102400 range, expandable to ISO 50 - 409600, just as its predecessor. This time though, Sony added a 5-axis built-in image-stabilization which is usable with any lens, including ultra-bright primes.

The Sony Alpha A7S II is heavily optimized for video. Its 12 MP sensor gives it the capability to output 4K Ultra-HD video without resampling. The new sensor also adds built-in Phase-Detect AF with 160 points, allowing it to focus directly without back-and-forth movements needed by Contrast-Detect AF.

With a new faster and more powerful processor, the A7S II can record 4K at 30 FPS internally or full 1080p HD video at speedy 120 FPS. There is provision for an audio input and clean 4K Ultra-HD output on the HDMI port.

Photographers will be pleased by the new 2.4 megapixels 0.5" EVF with 100% coverage and now 0.78X magnification, matching the one on its higher-resolution sibling, the 42 megapixels Sony Alpha A7R II.
