Peak Design Unveils Field Plate and Form Straps
News
2025.10.21
Peak Design just announced a number of new products today. There is one new quick-release plate plus quite a few straps with several variations being launched at once. The company already has products of the same types available for years but these new ones feature entirely new designs.
The most innovative is the new Peak Design Field Plate. This Arca-Swiss compatible Quick-Release plate has a unique latch that flips open to manually apply torque before easily locking back in place. The photo above shows the bottom of the product, while the other side is rubber-coated to avoid slippage. This directly solves the two problems with the original Peak Design Quick-Release Plate that comes with their highly-acclaimed series of tripods.
Ready to convince buyers that less is more, Peak Design already release several fixed-length camera straps. By being non-adjustable, these new straps are simpler, more robust and have a cleaner look. To compensate for the lack of flexibility, Peak Design makes their new Form strap in the lengths. Most people are unlikely to change the length of their straps often and simply gravitate to a size that is comfortable. For this reason, a fixed length should not be much of a limitation.
There are 4 types of straps, 2 of which are available in 3 sizes. Most straps come in a choice of 3 colors. Above is a photo of the Form Leather fixed-length neck-strap which can handle 45kg, more than any camera and lens on the market, combined. There are also straps made of extremely durable nylon rope that can handle a load of 82kg! The remaining two straps are wrist straps called the Cuff Rope and Cuff Leather. These are self-closing straps and so do not need to come in different sizes. Both these straps have the same weight handling as their longer counterparts.
The Peak Design Field Plate carries a price of $40 USD. Straps are priced according to size and materials. The least expensive, because they are all expensive, is the $40 Cuff Rope, followed by the $50 Form Rope, $60 Cuff Leather and $80 Form Leather. Some colors of certain straps have a small $5-10 initial discount.
All products announced today are available directly from the Peak Design website.
