Nikon Introduces Z 28mm F/2.8 Prime Lens

Today Nikon introduced a new compact prime lens for Z-mount. A nearly identical Z 28mm F/2.8 SE was introduced earlier this year with a different outer finish but these lenses are optically identical.
The new Nikkor Z 28mm F/2.8 is light-weight compact lens with Full-Frame coverage and a moderately bright maximum aperture. This provide a wide field-of-view spanning 75° on most Z-mount cameras. It is also capable of working on an APS-C camera where it provides a normal 53° viewing-angle. This lens accepts standard 52mm screw-on filters yet no lens hood, allowing it to be just 43mm long. This non-SE version weighs just 155g, making it the lightest Z-mount lens with Full-Frame coverage available. It reach such low weight, this prime lens is not weatherproof.
The freely-rotating ring at the front of the lens is a customizable fly-by-wire ring that doubles as focus-ring. This saves it from needed a second mechanism but will require to be configured on-camera. Speaking for focus, the Z 28mm F/2.8 can reach 0.2X magnification at its shortest focus distance of 19cm.
This lens is schedule for availability next month for $299 USD or $379 CAD.
