Zhong Yi Optics Reveals Mitakon Lens Turbo Mark II

Lens manufacturer Zhong Yi Optics just introduced a version of their Speed-Boosting DSLR lens adapter for Nikon Z APS-C mirrorless digital cameras, the Mitakon Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II.

This compact mechanical adapter mounts onto a Nikon Z-mount APS-C mirrorless digital camera, currently the Nikon Z50 or Z fc only. Three versions of the adapter are available with different lens mounts: Canon EF, Nikon F and Leica M42. The adapter must be used with the matching type of mount and the lens must offer both a focus-ring and an aperture-ring since camera control-signals are not relayed by the adapter. The lens used must also be a Full-Frame lens due to the Turbo feature of the adapter.

Optics within the adapter shrink the projected image-circle of a lens by 0.726X which changes the ratio between focal-length and aperture-entrance size to increases the effective aperture by roughly 1-stop. Approximately this cancels the 1.5X crop-factor of Nikon APS-C mirrorless. A 15mm Full-Frame lens thereby becomes equivalent to a 16½mm when comparing the field-of-view.

Although fitting the difference between the Nikon Z-mount and a SLR-mount flange-distance, the premium build quality of the Mitakon Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II give it a substantial 233g weight for its size. This lens adapter is available immediately from ZY Optics for $150 USD.
