Canon Introduces Unique Powershot N

CES 2013 is starting and a flurry of new products are being announced as we speak. We'll cover all cameras and lenses right here on Neocamera Blog, so stay tuned.

First up, Canon unveiled 5 entry-level cameras with the uniquely designed Powershot N turning the most heads. While many would encourage camera makers to think outside the box, this new uniquely designed model is the box. Its nearly symetric design make is made to make the Canon Powershot N usable from from any orientation, encouraging to shoot images at odd angles.

The Canon Powershot N is a strictly point-and-shoot camera built around a 12 MP BSI-CMOS sensor sitting behind a compact 8X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 28-224mm. The minimalist interface of this digital camera consists of a zoom ring and circular shutter-release, both surrounding the lens, and a 2.8" touchscreen LCD with 460K pixels.

Like a few other recent Canon cameras, the Powershot N is equipped with WiFi capabilities and is able to obtain GPS information from a wirelessly connected smart-phone. It runs on a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and supports Micro SDXC memory cards. A built-in flash is notably absent from this camera which is sure to greatly improve the photography of most novices.

The Canon Powershot N is scheduled to be available in April 2013 for a suggested retail price of $299 USD.
