The Nikon Coolpix S31 is a Compact Digital Camera with a 1/2.3" sensor. Its 10 Megapixels CCD sensor offers an ISO 80-1600 sensitivity range which is expandable to ISO 80-1600. With 10 MP of resolution, sharp prints are possible up to 15" x 11" at 240 DPI.
This camera features a mechanic shutter that can expose for 1/2000 to 1s. With a fastest shutter-speed of 1/2000, fast action can easily be frozen. Given that is does not support very slow shutter-speeds, this camera is unsuitable for night photography.
The Nikon Coolpix S31 features a Contrast-Detect AF system.
The Nikon Coolpix S31 is waterproof to a 5 meter depth for a maximum of 60 minutes. The weatherproof construction of this digital camera protects it against adverse weather, dust and moisture. This particular model is also freezeproof down to -10C. There is no viewfinder on the Nikon Coolpix S31 and no provision to add one.
