Nikon D5500 Summary
Nikon D5500 Assessment
The D5500 refines the existing Nikon entry-level DSLR design with several notable improvements while keeping a very consistent feature-set.
While external changes are easy to spot, the worthy upgrade is its revised 24 MP APS-C CMOS sensor which manages to deliver a full stop improvement in image-quality.
Photographs from the Nikon D5500 are highly usable and can be printed very large at the bottom levels of the ISO range. Higher than that, images still retain an impressive amount of details with a slow drop-off in maximum print sizes.
The key is that a good lens is required to get the best output from the D5500. The new collapsible kit-lens though offers a decent start and makes the D5500 relatively compact for a DSLR.
