Sigma Redesigns Art 35mm F/1.4 Lens

Sigma just released a normal full-frame prime lens completely redesigned for mirrorless digital cameras. The new Sigma A 35mm F/1.4 DG DN will be made exclusively for Sony E and Leica L mounts, covering a full-frame imaging-circle in both cases.

Part of the premium Art series that delivered some of the best optical-performance without compromise on the market, this new lens is expected to produce ultra-high image-quality required by the latest mirrorlress cameras. Its combination of normal focal-length and bright aperture is highly popular and Sigma themselves has a huge lineup of such lenses already.

The Sigma A 35mm F/1.4 DG DN is suitable for a variety of subjects including daily life scenes, indoor images and group photography. Its maximum F/1.4 aperture affords it great low-light capabilities and can produce very smooth out-of-focus backgrounds thanks to an 11-blade iris. An aperture-ring on the lens provides direct control. The lens can focus down to 30cm for up-close photography.

Sigma created an internal focus system controlled by stepping motors to focus quietly with great precision. This lens is constructed to a high-standard and is fully weatherproof. At 640g, this is not the lightest lens but it is not enormous either. The Sigma A 35mm F/1.4 DG DN accepts 67mm screw-on filters.

This new lens carries a retail price of $900 USD. It is expected to ship soon but no exact date has been given/
