Sigma Unveils Lightweight Full-Frame Zoom

Sigma introduced a new standard zoom lens for Full-Frame Mirrorless Digital Cameras in their Contemporary series of quality optics with balanced size and weight. These lens pair well with mirrorless bodies and are made to perform at a level for enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers.

The Sigma C 28-70mm F/2.8 DG DN is based on an optical design simplified to lower cost and weight from on the premium Sigma A 24-70mm F/2.8 DG DN. A the expense of an ultra-wide maximum angle-of-view, this new lens maintains the same bright F/2.8 maximum aperture with full-frame coverage and is over 40% lighter at 470g vs 835g. It body is almost more compact, allowing the front to feature a smaller and lower-cost 67mm filter, compared to the less common 82mm ones required by the wider Art lens.

On a Full-Frame camera, this lens spans a 34-75° angle-of-view, giving it some versatility. With its F/2.8 aperture, this 28-70mm can be used for environmental, full-body or closer portraits. Having a maximum magnification of 0.3X, it can handle closeups and detail shots easily. General indoor and outdoor photography are also covered with a weatherproof lens mount to minimize water and moisture intrusion.

Sigma designed their new C 28-70mm F/2.8 DG DN to deliver the highest image-quality in the Contemporary series to match the increased demand by modern Full-Frame mirrorless digital cameras.
