Sigma Launches 20mm Mirrorless Lens

Today Sigma expanded their Contemporary series of mirrorless lenses with another premium offering. Joining the trio of 24, 35 and 65mm models, the new Sigma C 20mm F/2 DG DN prime lens is the widest in the lineup. It accommodates a Full-Frame imaging circle with a moderately bright maximum aperture in a surprisingly small and light design that does not give up on features.

This new ultra-wide lens proves a 94° field-of-view suitable for exterior and interior architecture photography. Its combination of bright aperture and extremely wide focal-length also makes it highly desirable for night and astro-photography. The front accepts standard 62mm filters commonly used to achieve long exposures. This lens can focus down to 22cm which gives it a 0.14X maximum magnification ratio.

The Contemporary series continues to shift towards a premium lineup, approaching the optical performance of the Sigma Art series. The new Sigma C 20mm F/2 DG DN features an all-metal exterior with a dedicated ring to control aperture. A separate focus-ring operates as Quick-Shift AF, allowing DMF on any compatible camera. The lens is fully weatherproof too. Sigma includes a convenient magnetic lens cap and bayonet hood with each 20mm F/2 DF DN lens.

This model is released in both Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount versions. These new additions to the family are very similar in size and weight as other mirrorless DG DN lenses, measuring 7cm wide and 7.3cm long. For a bright wide-angle lens with Full-Frame coverage, this new Sigma C 20mm F/2 DG DN is relatively light at 370g. Both versions of this lens will be available later this month of $700 USD.
