Pentax Takes K-1 to Mark II, Including Yours

Yesterday night Ricoh announced the second version of their first and only full-frame DSLR. The new Pentax K-1 Mark II takes every single feature of the original K-1 in an identical body while adding a new Accelerator Processor between the image sensor and the PRIME IV processor engine.
The highly acclaimed K-1 already has an incredible list of features including many unique to Pentax such as the Automatic Horizon Correction, Anti-Alias Filter Simulator and Astrotracer plus 5-Axis Built-In Stabilization, Triple Control-Dials and Pixel Shift Resolution capture giving full-color resolution at each pixel. This time Ricoh improved the Pixel Shift unit to work hand-held by capturing pixel information with the natural shake of the photographer, an unprecedented feat of technology.
The new Accelerator Processor in the Pentax K-1 Mark II boosts the maximum sensitivity a whole 2 stops of this DSLR to 819,200, bringing it closer to APS-C and Full-Frame flagship Nikon cameras, which can reach one and two stops higher, respectively. It remains to be seen how useful such stellar ISO proves to be. This ultra-high sensitivity combined with 5-axis image-stabilization, effective to 5 stops, is sure to make the K-1 Mark II one of the best-performing digital cameras in low-light.
In a rare move among digital camera manufacturers, Pentax is offering a hardware upgrade for K-1 users that replaced the circuit board with that of the K-1 Mark II and even updates the logo on the camera. This offer is valid for a limited time until September 30, 2018 for a cost of $550 USD or $690 CAD.
The Pentax K-1 Mark II is scheduled to ship in early April for $2000 USD. Amazon, B&H Photo and Adorama are all ready to accept pre-orders. Order yours quickly to ensure an early delivery of this unique Professional Full-Frame DSLR.
