Olympus Takes OM-D E-M10 to Mark II

Olympus just announced a new addition to their line of mirrorless digital cameras. The new Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II lifts the base model of the advanced OM-D series by adding one megapixels of resolution to the EVF and 2 axis to the stabilization system. This Micro Four-Thirds camera offers the same 16 megapixels CMOS sensor as its siblings and has an ISO 200-25600 sensitivity range, expandable down to ISO 100.

The E-M10 Mark II has a revised body, looking similar to the original E-M10, yet improving its dual control-dials and mode-dial for better usability. It offers a new 2.4 megapixels EVF with Eye-Start Sensor and 1.23X magnification (counting a 2X crop-factor). Its tilting 3" touchscreen LCD has 1 megapixels.

A new TruPic VII processor lets it shoot continuously at 8.5 FPS and record full 1080p HD video at 60 FPS. As a first among Olympus cameras, the E-M10 Mark II can capture 4K Ultra-HD time-lapse and high-speed 640x480 video at 120 FPS. There is now a hybrid shutter which allows electronic speeds up to 1/16000s or mechanical ones up to 1/4000s. Bulb exposures up to 30 minutes are possible and easy to perform thanks to the unique Live-Bulb mode invented by Olympus.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II is expected to ship next month for only $650 USD. This price-point is fantastic since it gives access to advanced controls and features beyond what DSLRs of this price usually offer. Adorama and B&H Photo are already accepting pre-orders.
