Olympus Launches Third OM-D Mirrorless

Olympus just added the third camera to their digital OM-D series. While the original OM-D E-M5 introduced the first weather-sealed Olympus Micro Four-Thirds camera and the OM-D E-M1 became the first freezeproof one, the all-new Olympus OM-D E-M10 pushes down towards the mid-range with a body that is smaller than either of its predecessors by letting go of weather-sealing and simplifying stabilization to 3-axis instead of 5.

Of all the OM-D models, this is the first one to fit a built-in flash. There is still a hot-shoe for an external one. This makes a new light-weight yet highly efficient offering to those who do not shoot in adverse weather conditions. This model shares its 16 megapixels Four-Thirds sensor with the E-M5 which demonstrated unprecedented image-quality for a sensor having a 2X crop-factor.

The Olympus EM-D E-M10 will be available this March for a suggested price of $699 USD or CDN. Along with the new camera, Olympus has also announced no less than three new lenses:

• M.Zuiko 14-42mm F/3.5-5.6 EZ ED power-zoom lens with retractable design for $349 USD or CDN.
• M.Zuiko 25mm F/1.8 prime lens for $399 USD or CDN.
• 9mm F/8 Fisheye body-cap for $99 USD or CDN.
