Nikon Zfc & Z 40mm F/2 Special Editions

Nikon added two new special edition versions of existing products. There provide mostly cosmetic changes but are to be part of the lineup and not limited series.

The first product is a revised Nikon Z 40mm F/2 SE lens. This normal prime lens with Full-Frame coverage has the same optical formula as the standard Z 40mm F/2. This Special Edition includes an additional feature which is a dedicated fly-by-wire aperture-ring. Apart from this, the exterior has been changed cosmetically but the lens remains weatherproof.

Next up is the Nikon Z fc Black Edition. The naming describes it perfectly. It is a Nikon Z fc APS-C mirrorless digital camera wrapped in black textured coating. All specifications are idential to the standard model. Both are built around a 20 megapixels APS-C CMOS sensor fixed to the camera which means the camera does not have IBIS. The shutter can be driven at 11 FPS and spans exposures from 1/8000s to 15 minutes.

Both Z fc have a highly tactile interface with direct control for most exposure parameters. It is quite compact and fairly light at just 390g. This makes it a fun camera to use that is more efficient than most APS-C mirrorless. The Black Edition model will be sold directly from Nikon rather than with usual distributeurs.
