Panasonic originally invented the travel-zoom category with their TZ1, the first compact camera with a long zoom With a standard 10X optical zoom. In 2006, this was considered a pocket-size ultra-zoom! Real ultra-zooms are now much larger and often sport lenses that reach beyond 1000mm.
