IRIX Launches First GFX Lens

Today, IRIX joined the exclusive club of third-party manufacturer for Fujifilm GFX Medium-Format lens mount. Their first G-mount lens is the IRIX Dragongly 45mm F/1.4 GFX. This slightly wide prime lens offers a 62° field-of-view considering the 0.8X crop of Fujifilm Medium Format Digital Cameras.

IRIX already offers 45mm F/1.4 lenses for multiple mounts but, given the larger sensor of the Fujifilm system, features an improved optical design which also accounts the the extreme 100 MP resolution of the Fujifilm GFX 100 flagship camera. This a mechanical lens which requires both aperture and focus to be set on the lens.

The Dragonfly series of IRIX lenses is the latest to combine metal construction and weatherproofing. This lens offers a focus-lock ring to prevent the focus-ring from moving during shoots where focus-consistency is critical. As a high-quality optics with coverage for a huge Medium Format sensor, the IRIX Dragonfly 45mm F/1.4 is surprisingly not that heavy at 1.1kg while being the second brightest lens for the GFX platform.
