IRIX Introduces Incredible ND32000 Filter

Today IRIX announced a new ND filter that attenuates light by an incredible 15 stops. Their ND32000 filter (yes, 32 thousand) offers an unprecedented optical density of 4.5, allowing exposures of up to 5 minutes in full daylight, possibly longer with cameras having ultra-low ISO expanded sensitivities such as the Nikon D850 and D810 reviewed here.

This filter is made using high quality optical glass covered by a waterproof and oil repellent nano coating, protecting the surface from stains and fingerprints. As a screw on filter, the IRIX ND32000 prevents light leaks from spoiling images. Together this features make the filter usable in adverse weather condition, assuming a weatherproof camera and lens is also being used.

The IRIX ND32000 will be made available in Europe, since the company is based in Switzerland, over the next few days for a price of 159 EUR. It adds itself to the family of high-performance Circular Polarizers, ND and UV filters.
