Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 Summary
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 Assessment
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 is the first large-sensor ultra-zoom from Panasonic. It sports a 20 megapixels 1" High-Speed CMOS with a crop-factor of 2.7X and pairs it with a stabilized wide-angle 16X optical zoom lens equivalent to 25-400mm.
This extremely versatile digital camera is a prosumer all-in-one that can shoot nearly any type of subject from architecture to wildlife. It offers a very fast 12 FPS drive to capture an unlimited number of images which chasing moving subjects and can freeze them with up to 1/16000s shutter-speed. The FZ1000 is also 4K Ultra-HD video-capable.
Image-quality from the FZ1000 is unfortunately mixed. In good light and low ISO, it is capable of some really nice output. One past ISO 400, noise-reduction starts washing away details and makes things look soft, even more so when slow-shutter noise-reduction kicks in. Color rendition is reasonable after tweaking and Auto WB is quite consistent in delivering neutral results. Autofocus is generally quite fast.
