Canon Powershot SX50 HS Samples

The crops below show the image quality of the Canon Powershot SX50 HS next to the Fujifilm X-S1
Fujifilm X-S1. These are the flagship ultra-zooms of their respective companies. They have a large sensitivity range, reaching up to ISO 3200 at full-resolution. The SX50 HS also does ISO 6400 at 12 MP while the X-S1 drops to 6 MP at that ISO.

All images below are 100% crops from their respective camera taken at the highest image quality JPEG setting available. ISO, aperture and WB were set on camera. As usual, image parameters were optimized to obtain the best image quality from their respective camera. These crops help determine which ISO settings is acceptable on these cameras. When noise increases, most cameras compensate with noise reduction which introduces softness. The point at which a print become unacceptably noisy is a matter of personal taste.

The output of these cameras is actually quite close. The Fuji X-S1 has a clear lead until ISO 800 but then the SX50 HS overtakes it at that one sensitivity. After that, output becomes very soft but the X-S1 takes the lead again, although only marginally so.	ISO 12800 (3 MP)
