There is not much to say about the Sony Cybershot DSC-W70. It is a fairly typical ultra-compact camera, with no manual controls, not even custom white-balance. Image quality is about average, with less noise but less accurate white-balance.

Compared to other ultra-compact cameras, it is easy to get something better. One way is to get the Sony Cybershot DSC-W100, its 8 megapixels sibling. Even better choices would be the Fuji Finepix F30 or one of its less expensive siblings: the Fuji Finepix F20 or Fuji Finepix F10. Both the F30 and F10 demonstrate superior image quality, both indoors and outdoors, excellent high-ISO performance, custom-white balance and much longer battery life. The Fuji Finepix F20 has not been tested yet but is expected to perform between the F10 and F30. Another alternative would be the Canon Powershot SD550, which has more features including custom white-balance compared to the Sony W70.
