Panasonic Reveals L-Mount Lenses
News
2019.02.01
At Photokina 2018, Panasonic dropped few hints about their upcoming L-mount Full-Fame lenses. Today, they took the wraps off their first Full-Frame Mirrorless Digital Cameras and unveiled the first three lenses launched with the system. These cameras already have compatible lenses on the market since they use the Leica L-mount, thus giving a head-start to Panasonic compared to other mirrorless systems introduces at the last Photokina.
The Panasonic S 24-105mm F/4 Macro OIS is the all-purpose zoom for the system. This ultra-wide to short-telephoto offers a constant F/4 maximum aperture and built-in image-stabilization system, adding a tiny half-stop of stabilization to the camera which manages 5.5-stops by itself. The lens is fully weatherproof and freezeproof. Although not a true macro lens, it sports the name to bring attention to its 0.5X magnification.
This lens is expected to ship at the same time as the S1R and S1 cameras this March for a suggested price of $1300 USD. See the Panasonic S 24-105mm F/4 Macro OIS specification page for details and purchasing options or to pre-order right away.
A Panasonic S 70-200mm F/4 OIS Pro was also announced today. This telephoto zoom offers a constant F/4 maximum aperture and an internal zooming system. The lens is also stabilized, adding a still minimal half-stop of stabilization. While all lenses launched with the S-system are aimed at professionals, the Pro labelling of this one adds a mechanical focus-clutch system like the one pioneered by Olympus. This is is fully weatherproof and freezeproof as well.
The Panasonic S 70-200mm F/4 OIS Pro is expected to ship in March for $1700 USD. Check its specification page for details and purchasing options.
One prime lens was launched among the group. The Panasonic S 50mm F/1.4 Pro is an ultra-bright normal lens built to the highest optical quality and certified by Leica. This Pro lens also features the dual mechanical and electric focus-ring but adds a physical aperture-ring. The body of this is weatherproof and freezeproof, just like the rest of the family. Panasonic expect to ship this prime lens at the same time as the cameras for a price of $2300 USD. Head over to the Panasonic S 50mm F/1.4 Pro specification page for purchasing options.
