Fujifilm Releases X-H Series Firmware 3.0

Fujifilm just made a new firmware available for its latest X-H series mirrorless cameras. This is a major release for both the X-H2 and X-H2S. A new firmware was also launched for the XC 15-45mm F/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ lens.

Firmware 3.0 brings a number of new features and improvements, mostly around the area of autofocus. Subject detection has been enhanced better detect certain subjects and adds new types of tracked subjects. This means the X-H2S can track human faces, eyes, animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains plus, now, insects and drones. Due to limited menu real-estate the bird setting covers insects and plane setting, logically, covers drones.

Next to recognition is tracking with new algorithms to predict motion. Autofocus speed has been improved during continuous drive. Additionally, the EVF lag has been diminished, to reduce stutter around the moment when the camera performs autofocus. The camera is now compatible with the TG-BT1 Tripod-Grip, including controlling a power-zoom lens such as the XC 15-45mm. Version 3.0 of the Fujifilm X-H2S firmware can be downloaded now directly from Fujifilm.

The Fujifilm X-H2 also got a new firmware, taking it to version 1.2. This one adds support for the Tripod Grip and the File Transmitter FT-XH plus minor changes and stability fixes. Fujifilm X-H2 firmware can be downloaded today from the Fujifilm website.
