Fujifilm Unveils Light Ultra-Wide Prime Lens

Fujifilm today added another lens to their lineup of X-mount lenses for their APS-C mirrorless digital cameras.
The new Fujinon XF 16mm F/2.8R WR is an ultra-light prime lens with an ultra-wide 24mm-equivalent angle-of-view. Similar to the excellent XF 16mm F/1.4R WR, yet less than half its weight for 2-stop of aperture difference, the new XF 16mm F/2.8 is weatherproof and freezeproof likes its larger sibling. This new lens offers a fly-by-wide focusing ring plus a dedicated aperture-ring.
Fujifilm constructed the optics of the XF 16mm F/2.8R WR to deliver edge-to-edge sharpness while minimizing flare with Super EBC lens coatings. It features an internal-focus mechanism driven by a stepping motor to focus quickly and silently. The lens joints the series of fast compact primes that has been at the heart of the X-mount lens lineup since the very beginning.
The Fujifilm XF 16mm F/2.8R WR will be available in two colors, black which ships next month and silver two months later. The suggested price is $400 USD or $500 CAD.
