Today DxOMark released their sensor ranking of the Canon EOS RP, the budget Full-Frame Mirrorless Digital Camera from Canon. This second to user the Canon RF-mount is built around a 26 MP sensor with Dual-Pixel CMOS with a standard ISO 100-40,000 range (which is not very standard at all!) and expands to 50-102,400. The Dual-Pixel design allows photographers to select 4779 AF-Points nearly anywhere on the frame.
The rating published by DxOMark for the EOR RP is 85 which puts it just below the top 5 APS-C digital cameras! This performance breaks down into 24.3 bits of color which is actually very good yet falls severely behind in terms of dynamic-range at 11.9 EV, which is the level of Micro Four-Thirds cameras. Low-light performance is not great either at 2977 points. This new platform is starting out and Canon is going to improve rapidly as they polish their new system.
