The Fuji Finepix S5 Pro features an amazing sensor which delivers images of greater dynamic range than any other current DSLR camera. DP Review found up to 12 stops of dynamic range. As such it is capable of producing exceptional images which no other camera can produce.

 

For most aspects, the Fuji Finepix S5 Pro is as good as other top-notch DSLR cameras. The S5 Pro's dynamic range is controllable in several steps. When the dynamic range is set to anything above standard, the continuous drive speed drops to 1.6 FPS with a buffer for 7 images. When the dynamic range is set to standard, the frame rate goes to a standard 3 FPS with a buffer for 21 images. Because of the slower continuous drive, the S5 Pro is not a camera designed for sports photography. For that one would have to look at the externally similar Nikon D200 which features a standard dynamic range sensor.

 

Overall, the S5 Pro is a superb DSLR. Its image quality is excellent, with great color, tonality, dynamic range, metering and low image noise until ISO 800. This digital camera leaves very little to complain about.,The biggest issue is probably the Fuji Finepix S5 Pro's price, particularly for a 6 megapixels DSLR. Because of its high price, the reason to buy the S5 Pro is its wide dynamic range. Without the wide-dynamic range, the S5 Pro is a very expensive DSLR with a performance equal to its much cheaper competitors.
