The Sony DSC-H1 is an ultra-zoom camera with optical-stabilization that somewhat resembles other cameras in this class. Its main weakness is purple fringing which shows up in areas of contrast, specially in night-photography. For better photo quality in this category, check out for the Panasonic FZ5, although you will be trading some build quality and manual focus for it. Another similarly performing camera is the Konica-Minolta Z5 which is smaller, lighter and cheaper.
