The Olympus Stylus 600 turns out to be quite an average digital camera with somewhat below average image quality, mostly due to image softness, but some otherwise good performance. This camera doesn't impress much with its limited feature set, compared to other cameras in its class.

The Stylus 600 may not be a bad buy but there are several superior models in its class, including the relatively inexpensive Fuji Finepix E550. Other superior compact cameras include the Canon Powershot A610, the Fuji Finepix E510 and even the Olympus SP-310. Unfortunately, none of these models are weatherproof like the Olympus Stylus 600, so there lies the tradeoff.
