Assessment

The Konica-Minolta X60 is a newer version of the X50 which features a similar design but a different lens and smaller LCD. Figuring out how the X60 measures up is actually quite tricky. Many of the above reviews actually contradict each other on several points. Either this has to do with quality control problems, or problems with the earlier units sent to those review sites.

Generally, the review sites agree that the Konica-Minolta X60 is well built quality, has good ergonomics, is easy to use and is quite fast. Battery life and  flash power seem to be below average, but some sites say the opposite. On the other hand, image sharpness, noise levels and macro capability seem to be better than averge. The main point of disagreement is relative to color. While it was found by some sites to have better color reproduction than average, not all reviewers agreed.

Overall we would say that unless the color issues are resolved, this camera falls short of its older sibbling the X50. Otherwise, the optical distortion and corner softness are fairly typical for a camera of this size. In the same class and price-range, the Konica-Minolta X50 and the Pentax S55 both offer better value.
