Assessment

The Casio EX-Z55 is a good ultra compact camera. The picture quality is above average for an ultra compact with not too much noise and purple fringing. Only corner softness is stronger than average but isn't so noticeable on 4x6 prints. The best point of the Casio Z55 is its battery life which is among the very best. Another strong point is the Z55's speed of operation.

For travel, the excellent battery life means you won't need to carry a spare battery. Note that an optional battery charger ($50 USD) must be purchased to charge the battery outside the camera and without the dock. This is strongly recommended for people taking this camera on trips.

This camera is packed with features, only some of them usefull. Usefull features include pan focus which guesses the focus distance for taking shots rapidly, infinity focus for taking landscape pictures without focusing and a manual focus mode. The Casio Z55 also has usefull imape parameter adjustments (sharpness, contrast, saturation, flash intensity), live and playback histograms and a tripple timer for increasing the chances of getting a good self-portrait.
