Assessment

Its obvious we haven't reviewed many camera of this size but the G6 is definitely a great camera. The high resolution sensor of the G6 produces really nice, practically noise-free, images at ISO 200 and below. The Canon Powershot G6's main weakness is it slowness and limited movie mode. The LCD is not usable in low-light but there is an optical viewfinder which isn't obstructed by the lens (contrarily to its poorly designed predecessors, the G5 and G3).

Like other medium-sized cameras, the Canon G6 is too bulky to keep in a pocket or even in a purse. If you go for a camera that big, you could easily go for something bigger which will add to its features, most likely in the optical zoom department, but you may end-up sacrificing some image qualify.
