Images below are all unmodified 100% crops from their respective cameras. ISO and white-balance was set on the camera but exposure was fully-automatic. The Fuji Finepix F30 is compared against the Canon Powershot A700 and Fuji Finepix F10. The A700 does not directly compete with the F30 since it has a much larger feature set and is not an ultra-compact. Nevertheless, it is interesting to compare with the Canon A700 since it uses Canon's most recent 6 megapixel sensor.

Until ISO 200, there are very few differences between the images from these cameras. The Canon camera shows greater color saturation but colors from both Fuji cameras actually seem more acurate. Starting at ISO 400 the A700 shows its noise and is left behind by both Fuji cameras. At ISO 800, both Fuji camera show very low noise but the F30 distinclty does better than the F10. As ISO is increased up to 3200, the F30 seems to perform roughly one stop better! It ISO 1600 the shot is still usable for medium size prints and it ISO 3200 it is still usable for small prints. |
